Why get a massage?
Regular therapeutic massage can ease back pain and improve your range of motion. It can decrease medication dependance by draining and stimulating the lymphatic glands, which is the body’s natural defense system, enhancing your immunity.
Massage can help improve the muscles ability to get stronger by stimulating them and also improve the bodys largest organ, the skin. Increased joint flexibility, reduction of depression and anxiety, regeneration of tissue to improve scars and stretch marks are some other benefits.
When your body is massaged, you are getting oxygen and nutrients pumped to tissues and organs, thus improving circulation. It relaxes and softens injured, tired and overused muscles. It releases endorphins, which are the body’s natural pain killers. Massage can also enhance sleep quality, give you greater energy and reduce fatigue.
Your body has over the months, days, and years built up toxins in itself. It has also tightened areas that don’t allow you to be evenly balanced. If you are serious about getting your body in the best shape of its life, then a regular massage should be booked in. You want to find a massage therapist that is able to get in and even you up, and really flush you out. So a recommendation is often the best way to find them.
When I say regular, it would be nice in an ideal world for us to have a massage once a week and have them come to our home for 90 minutes for full body, however that is not realistic for most of us. Try and get one very 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 6 weeks or 3 months, whichever is more realistic for you. Find a pattern and routine that works with your lifestyle and budget. Then find a massage therapist you like and make regular appointments to keep your body healthy. The key is to find that routine, because the longer you leave it the less likely you are to do it. So I find I book in every 4-6 weeks, and this really works for me. If I leave it for 3-4 months, I find it’s about then my body starts to really get tight and achey, and I might catch a flu or get an injury. I also find if I do leave it for over 6 months when I do get that massage, it feels like I have been hit by a truck afterwards. This is because by body has built up so many toxins inside me, that it was just dying to release.
So if you want to help keep a healthy body then massage should play a regular part in that. Start looking after yourself mentally and physically and you will notice the difference.
