RECIPE: ORANGE-LEMON SHAMPOO

With only three ingredients, this DIY shampoo recipe couldn't be easier! Plus it has a citrus kick that will make your showers sweet and energizing. Make some for yourself or as a special, homemade gift for friends and family. They'll be smelling sweet, and thanking you in no time!

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 cup unscented shampoo base
  • 10 drops sweet orange essential oil
  • 10 drops lemon essential oil
INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Mix all the ingredients in a small shampoo bottle and gently shake to combine.

Dispense a quarter-sized amount for washing your hair and lather up from scalp to tips. Rinse and repeat as needed. Will keep for up to 18 months.


RECIPE: HONEY ROSEMARY SHAMPOO

Honey may seem an odd ingredient to use in a shampoo, but combined with the right ingredients, it can add body and health to your hair. Rosemary cleans and disinfects, and it helps to treat a flaky, imbalanced scalp.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup liquid castile soap
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/4 cup raw honey
  • 10 rosemary essential oil
INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Place water in a small saucepan and warm gently over low heat until warm but not hot. Remove from heat.
  2. Add castile soap, olive oil, and raw honey. Whisk until well combined. Cool in the pan.
  3. Pour the shampoo carefully into a quart jar or other airtight glass container of choice. Add essential oil and seal the container tightly. Shake to combine.
HOW TO USE HONEY ROSEMARY SHAMPOO:
  1. Gently pour or spray over wet hair. Use only as much as needed to coat the hair and work up a slight lather.
  2. Rub into hair and scalp from root to tips.
  3. Rinse well with warm water and apple cider vinegar, if desired.
SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE INFORMATION:

Store in glass jar or other container, in a cool place. Shampoo should last 3-4 weeks.




RECIPE: DIY ANTI-FRIZZ HAIR MIST

Spritz this homemade hair mist onto dry hair to help tame frizz and fly-aways while restoring your hair’s health. The heart song essential oil blend contains essential oils such as rose absolute, which rejuvenate the hair and scalp. This spray is also ideal for adding definition to curly hair.

SUPPLIES:
  • 8-ounce spray bottle
INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 cup distilled or boiled water
  • 1 tsp. avocado oil
  • 1 tsp. vegetable glycerin
  • 2 Tbsp. aloe vera gel
  • 5-10 drops  essential oil blend
INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Whisk together the avocado oil, glycerin and aloe vera in a bowl until well blended.
  2. Add the essential oil.
  3. Pour mixture into an 8-ounce spray bottle with a good quality fine mist spray top then add the distilled water until bottle is full. If using boiled water, let water cool before adding.
TO USE:

Shake well before each use. Spritz lightly onto dry hair and comb through with fingers.

SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE INFORMATION:

Store in the refrigerator. Product should last up to 3 months.



RECIPE: BOTANICAL-INFUSED LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER

This herbal infusion is light and non-oily, giving you shiny, healthy-looking hair. Calendula and comfrey are herbs traditionally used to treat dry hair and soothe an irritated scalp. Adding apple cider vinegar will help restore hair’s natural pH, while aloe vera helps detangle and moisturize.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 3/4 cups distilled water
  • 1/4 cup aloe vera
  • 1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. dried comfrey leaf
  • 1 Tbsp. dried calendula
INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Combine distilled water, calendula and comfrey in a covered pot and bring to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat and let infusion steep for 15 minutes.
  3. Strain into desired container (spray bottles are ideal) and add apple cider vinegar and aloe vera.
  4. Shake bottle well to combine.
STORAGE INFORMATION:

Store in fridge to extend shelf life.

TO USE:

Spray onto hair and comb through.
