  • ¼ cup Fuller’s Earth clay
  • 1 cup arrowroot powder
  • 3 Tbsp. corn silk
  • 5 drops geranium essential oil
INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Grind the corn silk into a fine powder using either a mortar and pestle or a small coffee grinder or blender.
  2. Mix in the clay and arrowroot powder and blend thoroughly.
  3. Transfer powder to an airtight jar.
  4. Add the geranium oil to a small cotton pad and place cotton pad into jar with the powder. To avoid lumps allow this to sit for 48 hours, shaking the jar periodically.
  5. After 48 hours, remove the cotton pad and use powder as needed.

RECIPE: HOMEMADE CONCEALER

This natural concealer nourishes your skin while helping conceal blemishes. It is customizable to match your skin tone, and easy to apply in a lip balm sized applicator.

OPTIONAL SUPPLIES FOR MIXING PIGMENT POWDERS:
  • Disposable gloves
  • Apron
  • Face Mask
  • Wax paper or parchment paper
INGREDIENTS:
  • 3/4 tsp beeswax granules
  • 1 1/2 tsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp cocoa butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp rosehip seed oil, or 2 tsp if using primarily for under-eye area.
  • 1/4 tsp vitamin E oil
  • 1/4 tsp arrowroot powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp oil-soluble zinc oxide
  • 3 1/4 tsp kaolin clay, or other cosmetic clay of choice
  • 1 tsp pigment powders of your choice
INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Melt the beeswax, coconut oil and cocoa butter together on low heat in the bowl of a double boiler.
  2. Once melted, remove from heat, add rosehip and vitamin E oil and stir.
  3. Whisk in arrowroot powder, clay and zinc oxide. Reheat gently if mixture solidifies too much.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR MIXING PIGMENT POWDERS:
  1. In a small bowl or on parchment paper, combine pigment powders, a small pinch at a time, to find a color that best matches your skin tone. Experiment with combining red oxide, brown oxide, and either yellow for warmer skin tones or orchid for cooler skin tones, along with white (oil soluble titanium dioxide) to lighten or black to darken.
  2. Test on your wrist, then once you have a good match, combine a small amount of the concealer mixture with the pigment mixture and test on your wrist again.
  3. Once you have the desired color, add the pigment mixture to the concealer mixture in small pinches, and stir to combine. For light skin you will need less total pigment, approx ½ tsp - 1 tsp total, whereas darker skin tones will require more.
  4. Scoop mixture into a 2 oz tin or other small container of choice.
TO APPLY:

Apply a small amount of concealer using a clean makeup applicator or cotton swab and blend well. Then continue with your normal makeup routine (foundation, blush, etc.) as desired.
