Stress:

If your pet is stressed or in use a couple of drops of rescue remedy flower essence in a small amount of water. You can also rub a few drops into their muzzle and paws. Rescue remedy helps to calm emotional distress.



Bite or Wound care:

Cleanse the wound thoroughly with a gentle natural antibacterial soap and tepid water. Then flush it with a mixture of equal parts Echinacea extract and water. Echinacea is naturally antibacterial and immune boosting.

Once the wound is clean apply Calendula gel twice daily to encourage healing. Combine this with a dose of homeopathic Ledum, given twice daily. Ledum is a natural remedy for puncture wounds it relieves pain and inflammation.


Cleaning an abscess:

1/2 tspoon sea salt

250ml warm water

25 drops Echinacea extract

25 drops golden seal extract

Dissolve the salt in the water and mix in the extracts. With a plastic syringe, gently flush the abscess 3 times a day.

NOTE: Golden seal may stain white fur slightly so use with caution.


Strengthening immunity

A healthy pet with a strong immune system is naturally resistant to fungal infections and other common problems. Supplementing your pets diet with 1/4 tspoon flax seed oil as well as Echinacea Thuja comp from Weleda or alternatively Echinacea in a tincture form and dose per weight.


Herbal Anti fungal bath
Trim the area around the affected area. Add 3 drops of Red Manuka essential oil tyour o a tspoon of mild castile shampoo or pet shampoo and bathe your pet weekly. Double the recipe if you have a large dog.

After bathing rinse with this
2 Tbsp Dried Thyme
2 Tbsp Dried Eucalyptus
2 Tbsp Dried Lavender
1.25 litres water
Simmer the ingredients in a covered pot for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and steep until cool. Strain and use the herbal tea as a final rinse. 



Insect Sting/Bite:
If your pet has been stung by an insect and you can see the stinger, remove it by scraping a credit card along the top of the skin over the affected area. Or pull it out with tweezers, grasping the stinger as close to the skin as possible. Apply a cold pack for 15 minutes.
 Use a homeopathic remedy called Ledum. It helps to ease pain a swelling redness and pain. Give one dose and then another after half an hour. Repeat every hour until you see improvement.

Abscess care:
Hot compresses can help bring abscesses to a head, draining then naturally. Calendula fights infection and heals.
250ml  boiling water
1 Tbsp Dried Calendula flowers
1Tbsp Yarrow flowers
Pour the boiling water over the dried flowers and steep for 1/4 hour. Dip a flannel in the herbal preparation and apply to the affected area for 15 minutes 3 times a day. Make sure the compress is not too hot. Rewet the flannel as much as needed.

Prevention of abscesses
Clean all wounds immediately and thoroughly twice daily is best. You can use the abscess cleaning solution recipe.

Anti fungal treatment
Apple cider vinegar restores the healthy acidity to the skin making it more resistant to the growth of fungi. Adding a few drops of Red Manuka and Lavender essential oil, which is antibacterial and soothes itching and inflammation.

125 ml apple cider vinegar
1/4 tspoon  Lavender essential oil
1/4 tspoon Red Manuka essential oil

Mix the ingredients and shake well. Apply tot he affected areas twice daily with a cotton ball. 

Conjunctivitis Eye wash
To treat conjunctivitis this eye wash soothes irritation and helps to heal the eye.

250ml boiling water
1tspoon dried calendula flowers
1 tspoon chamomile
1 tspoon eyebright
Pour the water over the herbs, cover, and steep for 15 minutes. Strain through a coffee filter. Soak a cotton ball in the luke warm solution and squeeze the liquid into the eye several times a day. Until the eye has healed .
